New Musical!!!!!

Newsies is a wonderful movie that I watched all the time growing up. I was mesmerized by ALL the BOYS and the DANCING!!!!! That being said, I am happy to announce that NEWSIES IS BEING TURNED INTO A MUSICAL and it opened today in NYC:)

Well I hope that the musical does well, so that it will head out to California!! Other wise I will have to save some money to travel to NYC so I check it out and visit friends.

Just like many of you I can tell you exactly were I was on September 11th, 2001. I just started my freshman year at the University of Redlands I remember going to the cafeteria to get breakfast. As I picked up my tray a cross the room a crowd was gathered all watching the huge screen. I preceded to get food and then I walked over to see what was going on. They were showing footage of the first plane hitting the WTC. It didn't seem real. Classes were canceled for the day and we listed to the radio and watched TV. One of my new freshman friends was from NJ and she was worried about her friends and family back home. I empathized with her. Where were u when the attacks happened?

On this 10th Anniversary I was moved by many of the tribute that took place. The State Farm Empire State Of Mind commercial made me tear eyed. If you have not seen it you should check it out.

I thought it was important to talk about 9/11 with my 6th grade class. Most of them were 1 or 2 when the attacks took place. I asked them to journal what they knew about 9/11. Many students knew very little. I went through the general facts for them, shared my store above, and asked them to go home to find out where there parents were when the attacks happened. We read some poems that children wrote after the attack. Being in California we are distant from the location of these attacks, but we can not forget the effects they have had on our Nation.

Really cool project by Jordan Matter’s “Dancers Among Us” features members of prominent New York City dance companies. This is an ongoing project that began in the Spring of 2009. There were no trampolines or other devices used for these images, just thousands of hours of training.

Day 2 substititue teaching...

Day 2 was amazing!!! The 8th grade classes I had were very chill and well behaved. 1st and 2nd period was a computer class- they were working on a power point and brochure about what career they would like to have. I found this assignment to be interesting and enjoyed walking around to see what everyone chose. 3rd period was a tech math class, 5th period communications (they a create weekly tv show) and 7th period yearbook. The teacher I subbed for has a zero period but he worked it so I had two preps. He has a great job. Hope to sub for him again!!!! It was also fun today because my cousin Miss Horn works at the school so there was two Miss Horn's today :) Kids got a kick out of it and I got to enjoy lunch with her as well.

1st Day of Substitute teaching....

I signed up to sub a 4th grade elementary class. I was a little nervous and scared. As I walked into school I tried to come across calm and assertive like the dog whisper always says to do :) I relaxed a little once I meet the very nice front office staff. When I went to the classroom the teacher was there so she gave me the instructions and I was able to ask questions which also eased my nerves. It was definitely a learning experience!!! I was sort of glad I only worked a half day for my first day. On the bright side four of the students drew me pictures. One drawling said I was the greatest sub ever and another was a colorful barn. I just thought it was so cute that they drew me pictures. Looking forward to the next time assignment and interested to see how it goes at a high school.

It snowed in the Antelope Valley (Lancaster, Palmdale & Quartz Hill) two Sundays ago. It started in the morning but it was not sticking. By 10:00pm I had to scrap 4 inches of my car to get home. Monday was suppose to be the first day back to school from the break, but it was closed for a
SNOW DAY!!!

It is fun to enjoy the snow once in a while!!!

Find a teaching job
Exercise three day a week
Learn somethings about photograph for personal pleasure
Go to a concert
Go on a camping trip (anyone want to come along?)
Run and complete a 5K

Delta 100th celebration and the weekend!!!!

I started the weekend out with a dance production at a Westwood private school. The theater and lighting were ridiculous. Would have been amazing to go to Harvard Westlake. It was a great show and a special thank you for free dinner at intermission.

Saturday was the 100th Delta Birthday Luncheon. I got to spend the day with Erin and about 400 delta sisters. It was great to catch up with my little sis Jenny. Lot's of Lavender fun :) Missed you Julie.PS. the 100 year cookies were great!!! hehe

After all the fun I headed home to Hollywood. Adam(the boyfriend) and I then went to the Americano in Glendale. It is one of my favorite places in LA. We ate at Cheesecake Factory and to the movies to see Kick Ass.

Sunday was spent hanging around the apartment and watching the Laker's beat the Utah Jazz.
Great weekend!!!! Looking forward to a great May

St. Patrick's Day!!

These last two weeks have been very busy but I will try to catch you all up. Below are pictures from girls night on St. Patrick's Day!!

Adrienne, Brittney, Meghan and I at Casey's downtown. We took the metro from my apartment their and back!!!

My cousin Brittney joined for the festivities. She dyed her hair red that day so appropriate for St. Patrick's Day :) We had a ton of fun!!! She even brought yummy treats from work.

Of course I had to do something fun for work. You can never have too many socks!!!

Movie Monday!!!

I am going to try to review movies I have seen on Monday's, because Movie Monday is cool. Let's see how this goes and if I keep up with it. Saturday I went with the sister and her friend Harvey to see Brooklyn's Finest.

It wasn't my favorite movie that's for sure. It show the dark side of three cops lifes and is quite violent. Normally I am not really bothered by violence, but for some reason this movie got to me. Perhaps the real life situations and my former city were the culprit. I felt potions of the movie dragged, possible an artistic choose to allow the audience to feel the monotony of the characters lives. I assume men will enjoy Brooklyn's Finest all though I did not care for it. On the plus side Jessie Williams (from grey's anatomy) made an appearance in the movie. Hottie!!

27th Birthday at Disneyland!!

I love holidays because they break up the year.They are just a lot of fun :) I like to do little things for my staff.

I made little valentine robots.I am obsessed with.family magazine which is where I got the idea.

Lil' C

So You Think You Can Dance former judge Lil" C. I am sad they know longer switch the third judge because Lil' C was my favorite. He was so profound. I just loved hearing him talk about dance. He is a member of LXD and is a co-creator of the hiphop style Krumping. Love him!! Think he is super cool...keep him!!!

Red & Black PJ Party

This is Adam and I back in January at the annual black and red pj party held by his high school classmate. It was a lot of fun to see everyone dressed up and there was a pretty sweet DJ. I meet a lot of people from is high school and we can a great time!!!!!

Not the best picture quality but these are his boys. Nick on the left and Warren on the right. They were all giving me a hard time that night but it was fun I enjoyed it. I am really up set I didn't get a picture of Terral because we were in a pushing war all night. I swear at the end of the night he pushed me, three feet back, out of no where. All in all a great time hope we get to go again next year.

Senior High Camp Wrightwood 2009

I had an amazing time at Methodist Senior High Church Camp

My family group and cabin were amazing!! I had fabulous campers
(family group-Drew, Chole, Katie, Cindy, David, Vernon, Ally, Riley, and Romina)

That dance was a lot of fun and sister rocked the shoes I bought her
and we danced the night away.

I had a ton of fun sitting with these boys at meals. They are hilarious and are going to be great gentleman. Ladies watch out. It was so nice to have all 4 horn's together. Holly and Wes were a blessing in my first year as a counselor and it was so fun to see Hunter in his last year as a camper. Above is Hunter in the water melon smash. Camp was life changing and really brought me closer to God. I am so glad I went. Good times!

Mom's Birthday

We had a day of Fun for Mom's Birthday!!

We started off at the Arboretum

127 acres of beautiful trees and flower!

This was our favorite find of the day, pachypodium part of the cactus family

We got luck and only of the many peacocks decided to show for my mom.
After the arboretum we headed to the Americana, a beautiful outside shopping center, in Glendale for lunch. Lunch was fabulous and we had my favorite cupcakes for dessert. I highly recommend the Elvis cupcake (peanut butter and banana) at Crumbs.

To end the eventing we went to see Dirty Dancing at the Pantages Theater. It was a great show with lots of latin dancing. All in all she had a great birthday!!

Tuesday I went to see the Clippers play LeBron James and the Cavaliers. Cavaliers were down most of the game and LeBron could not get anything to fall. With two minutes left the Cavaliers pulled ahead and were able to keep the lead. Great game!!

LA Metro Adventures!

The metro is surprisingly clean and pretty empty.

Minsky's was fabulous. Good music, fun dancing and great actors.

I called 311 per my landlords request to have the gas company come out and check my stove. Instead they send two huge fire trucks.

Boy was I embarrassed. The guys were all really nice. They didn't find anything wrong with my stove but they turned off the gas anyways. Tomorrow just the gas company will be coming by. What a night.

You are not seeing things. I celebrated my 26th birthday with Roxanne, my sister and my mom having lunch at the American Doll Cafe. It's a super cute cafe all decorated in pink, black and white. We had a three cores meal and dessert.

Knee High socks, cookie, a rose, gum, candy and batman valentines for the girls!

Nice relaxing day; cable installed, shopping for the apartment, got my nails done and made myself a nice dinner :)
